From the desk of Chairman

I welcome you all at the EKTA Incubation Center located on the City campus of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, WB. This centre is one of the first TBI in the state of West Bengal. We are devoted to nurture and support originality, novelty and entrepreneurship amongst students , and other applicants for establishment and progress of TBI to meet the social responsibilities and economic growth of our communities....
In the last, decade we have incubated a number of aspirants from the campus of our university. Similarly we have also incubated students from affiliated engineering colleges. We have been inspiring students from undergraduate, postgraduate and research scholars for technical innovation and transform it into entrepreneurship. We wish to incubate 50 incubatee per year both physical and virtual.
We would like to provide financial assistance to deserving startups, legal advice, thematic mentoring, support and guidance for intellectual property, financial schemes from government as well as from venture capital fund, etc. I have confidence that this centre would provide the right innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem for incubatees.
I believe and trust that innovation and entrepreneurship is not new to West Bengal. In fact the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship is in DNA of Bengal. I therefore appeal to all students, research scholars and professors to take full advantage of EKTA Incubation Centre and contribute to the development of Bengal and our country. I wish best of luck for overall development of EKTA Incubation Centre.

Today we are faced with number of new challenges e.g. Environmental Degradation, Global Warming, Water Scarcity, Affordability of Healthcare, Food & Nutritional Security etc. While emerging disruptive technologies such as Biotechnology, IoT & AI, New materials, Automation and Sensors are providing level playing tools to young and creative minds, It’s important to harness their creativity to develop applications that will resolveserious unmet needs of the society.Progressively Innovation and Entrepreneurship are becoming wheels of the societal development. EKTA Incubation Centre set up by Dr.Ashok Thakur; is a stage for innovators and entrepreneurs from West Bengal who are loving to solve unmate requirements of the market through their imagination & technology backed solutions....
The centre plays vital role in hand holding of bright ideas from students, faculty members, professors, researchers, grass root innovators as well as individuals from state to create competitive, market ready and sustainable start-ups and business of tomorrow. Through it’s state of the art infrastructure, University Research Centres, Forthcoming prototyping labs, Panel of eminent mentors from Industry & Academia centre will de risk the incubatee start-ups to enhance their chance to succeed. It will enable entrepreneurs to seek seed and growth capital from various government, non-government funding agencies, Angel investors and Venture Capital Firms. We will help entrepreneurs to identify potential of in their innovation, protect them under IPR law framework and provide access to markets. We are working towards creation of world class start up ecosystem right here in Kolkata. I confidently believe, EKTA Incubation Centrewill become nucleus for the future growth of the region. TBI OBJECTIVES
  • To promote entrepreneurship and nucleation platform for the start-up initiatives in West Bengal in order to enable them to prosper into successful industries.
  • 1. Creation of a platform for speedy commercialization of technologies developed in the host institution via setting up spin-off venture companies to develop innovations to commercially viable products.
  • 2. To provide value added/facilitation services such as legal, financial, technical, IPR etc to the incubatees.
  • 3. To create sustainable revenue earning business model based on sharing of TBI facilities.
  • Plan to meet business support service:

    • The following steps will be undertaken to support and promote the business potential of the incubatees.

  • 1. Professional consultant for business entrepreneurship.
  • 2. Quarterly workshops to enable interaction between incubatees and potential licensing industries.
  • Mentoring, counselling and training efforts:
  • 1. Advisory and mentoring group will be formed to guide through funding and marketing opportunities to the incubatees.
  • 2. Instrument workshops and hand-on training for the cutting edge technologies.
  • 3. Workshops on industry communication, Business management and IPR skills.

    Recognizing visionary new innovations in emerging fields of technology, requires a stout strategy to create and safeguard the intellectual property. Licensable intellectual property generates more business and funding opportunities for start-ups, yet, founders, who being hard-core technologists, find it tough to deal with statutory requirements and tasks and get diverted from the core mission of new product development. EKTA TBI offers linkages to service providers in the areas of IP, Legal and Finance, who are concerned with to the specific needs of these early phase Start-ups and step-in when they are needed.
